Surprise Creek Hutterite Colony in Stanford, Montana, was founded in 1963 as a division from the King Ranch Hutterite Colony.

A daughter colony of the Surprise Creek Hutterite Colony is the Prairie Elk Hutterite Colony (Wolf Point, Montana, USA).

In 2023 the Surprise Creek Hutterite Colony was a Dariusleut colony.
