The Rocky Cape Hutterite Christian Community was founded in 2006 as a division from the Elmendorf Christian Community (Mountain Lake, Minnesota, USA).

In 2018 the Rocky Cape Christian Community was an independent Schmiedeleut colony. It is in the process of changing its name to the Detention River Christian Community. They may now be in the process of moving to Paraguay in 2023.
