Grace Mennonite Church (St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada)
Grace Mennonite Church was founded in 1956 in St. Catharines, Ontario. They began by worshiping in rented facilities. In 1958 they completed their own meeting house. The congregation was incorporated in 1957 and joined the conference as an independent congregation in 1960. The congregation originated through division from St. Catharines United Mennonite Church because of its desire to use the English language in worship. The founding group included Henry Nickel, Walter Epp, Henry Schellenberg, and David Dyck.
During the first year, David Schroeder, then a seminary student in Chicago, preached about twice a month. Henry Fransen was the first pastor, beginning in 1957.
