Herbert Mennonite Church began services and formally organized in 1905. The first building was occupied in 1908. Over the following twenty years or so the difficulties of travel and scattered residences required other meeting places to be set up, and eleven others were so formed. Frank Sawatzky is considered the founding leader of the group. The congregation originated through colonization from Manitoba and the United States.

In 1931 the church had 9 congregations (Stationen), was led by Jacob M. Wiens, and had 4 ministers. The church had 481 members, a total of 1,024 members and adherents, and 156 families.

In 1968 a larger meeting house was completed.

In December 1992 after some years of difficulty, the congregation withdrew from all conference affiliations because of doctrinal differences. The church remained independent until 29 April 2007, when it joined the Associated Gospel Churches and changed its name to Living Faith Fellowship Church.
