The Newport Hutterite Colony was founded in 1988 as a division from the Deerfield Hutterite Colony. 

Westwood Hutterite Colony (Britton, South Dakota, USA) is a daughter colony.

In 2021 the Newport Hutterite Colony was a Schmiedeleut Group 2 colony.
