Elmendorf Hutterite Colony in Mountain Lake, Minnesota was founded after 1998 as a division from Upland Hutterite Colony (Letcher, South Dakota, USA) as a Schmiedeleut colony. In 2003 it became the Elmendorf Christian Community, an independent colony.

Daughter colonies of the Elmendorf Christian Community include: Rocky Cape Christian Community (Smithton, Tasmania, Australia); and Grand River Christian Community (Gallatin, Missouri, USA).

In 2021 the Elmendorf Christian Community was an independent colony.
