The Heartland Mennonite Church northwest of McIntire, Iowa, USA was established in 1990. The congregation started as families began moving to the area seeking a quieter farming community. The Colonization Board of the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite approved the area as a new settlement, with the first families arriving in 1989. The congregation was formally organized on 24 September 1990. Earvy Ensz from Almena, Wisconsin served as the first nonresident pastor.

Initially, worship services were held in homes. In 1991 the congregation purchased a small church building within McIntire for $8,000. The first service was held there on 22 September 1991. The congregation built a new church at its present location in about 2017.

Because of their location about 50 miles south of the Mayo Clinic, the congregation became a spiritual home for numerous Holdeman patients at the Mayo Clinic. Minister Mark Loewen from Brazil served as a minister while a family member received treatment at the Mayo Clinic.

In 1996 the congregation divided into two, with a new group meeting at Lime Springs, led by Randy Unruh. Lime Springs was 16 miles east of McIntire.

In 2020 the congregation was part of the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite. The minister was Randall Esau.
