Plainview Hutterite Colony was founded in 1974 (Hofer says 1973) as a division from the Waldheim Hutterite Colony. A daughter colony of the Plainview Hutterite Colony is the Boundary Lane Hutterite Colony (Elkhorn, Manitoba, Canada).
In 2017 the Plainview Hutterite Colony was a Schmiedeleut Group 2 colony.
