Elmendorf Hutterite Colony in Mountain Lake, Minnesota was founded after 2003 as a division from Upland Hutterite Colony(Letcher, South Dakota, USA).

Daughter colonies of the Elmendorf Christian Community include: Rocky Cape Christian Community (Smithton, Tasmania, Australia); and Grand River Christian Community (Gallatin, Missouri, USA).

In 2017 the Elmendorf Christian Community was an independent Schmiedeleut colony.
