CMCO Publications, Barwick, Ontario, Canada, is a small publishing and distribution company operated by the Publication Board of the Conservative Mennonite Church of Ontario (CMCO).

It was founded in December 1996 by the ministerial body of CMCO with a five-member board of ordained leaders. A founding leader of the enterprise was Mervin Brubacher. CMCO Publications initially operated a bookstore and print shop.

One intent of the bookstore was to make available to Canadian parochial schools and home schools the complete school curriculum produced by Rod and Staff Publishers of Crockett, Kentucky both via mail order and through presence at home schooling conventions.

The print shop was originally intended for printing Russian language tracts to be sent along with clothing shipments to the former Soviet Union. The purposes expanded over the years as more sophisticated printing equipment was purchased. The shop has also provided printing services to other conservative Anabaptist groups, such as Vineyard Publications, an Old Order Mennonite publishing firm in southern Ontario.

CMCO Publications has produced a variety of booklets and larger monographs that have supported CMCO’s theological perspective. These have included booklets like Christian family values (1996), coloring books for children, a monograph history of the CMCO mission in India, Gems and ideals for young ministers (1999), various biographies and histories of local congregations, and an periodic Congregational Directory.

CMCO Publications also took over compilation and production of an outreach paper, The Messenger, originally produced by Fred Nighswander in the 1960s for use with First Nations people on reserves in northwest Ontario. CMCO Publications expanded the paper’s scope to attract a wider audience, and produced up to 14,000 copies per month by 2008.
