The Fairview Mennonite Brethren Church began as an English-language outgrowth of the Scott St. Mennonite Brethren Church. It officially organized on 16 February 1964 when 156 persons became charter members. Walter Unger provided leadership during the earliest period.

The congregation grew rapidly, with a gymnasium and other facilities added in 1968.

In 1966 open air drive-in services were begun in the summer and a radio ministry was launched in 1969. From 1978 to 1987 the congregation operated a Nursery School. In 1980 they were partners in starting another congregation in the area, Fairview-Louth.
