Aberdeen, a city (population 1,500 in 1950; 1,994 in 2010), situated in southeastern Idaho, Bingham County, not far from the west shore of the American Falls Reservoir Lake. In the 1950s approximately 261 Mennonite church members lived within shopping distance of Aberdeen. All belong to the First Mennonite Church congregation, the only one in the area, organized in June 1907. Of these, 43 per cent lived in the town. Mennonites have lived in this area since 1906.
