Kamenka was a village in the Orenburg Mennonite settlement in northeast Russia, founded in 1894. The Mennonite Brethren Church of Orenburg in the Urals was founded in 1895 as a subsidiary of the Mennonite Brethren Church of Einlage in the province of Ekaterinoslav. On 17 December 1901 it became an independent congregation with its seat at Kamenka, where in 1894, four of the 41 families were members of this church; by 1926 there were only six families in the village who were not members. A church was built in 1900. In 1905 Kamenka was organized as a subsidiary of the Orenburg Mennonite Brethren Church. In 1901 Kornelius DeFehr (1846-1919) was ordained as elder of the congregation, succeeded as minister in 1918 by David D. Päthkau. The congregation was actively engaged in evangelization among the Russians of the vicinity. The following ministers were exiled after 1929: Abram Teichröb, Jakob D. Rempel, Gerhard D. Rempel, Isaak D. Redekopp (all of Kantserovka), Aron J. Heyde and David D. Päthkau of Kamenka, and Abram D. Rempel of Petrovka. Also about 18 Sunday-school teachers and the choristers Abram Falk (Kamenka), Bernhard Falk (Kantserovka), and Hermann Neufeld (Kamenka) were exiled.
