Cleeff, van, family
Van Cleeff was a Dutch Mennonite family, of which the following members went into the ministry: Laurens van Cleeff of Zwolle, serving at Borne 1809-1859; his Afscheids-rede of 15 November 1857 was published at Zwolle in 1858. Three of his sons also went into the ministry: Anthony Doyer van Cleeff, at Makkum 1835-1876; Hendrik Arnoldus van Cleeff, at Rottevalle 1846-1851, and Beemster 1851-1885; Laurens van Cleeff, at Huizinge 1848-1854, Warns-Staveren 1854-1857, and Uithuizen 1857-1894, author of a paper on the significance of the congregation in Doopsgezinde Bijdragen 1893, and a sermon commemorating his 25th year of service in this congregation of Uithuizen; Laurens van Cleeff J. Jzn, a cousin of Laurens, at Hallum 1876-1882, Tjalleberd 1882-1887, and Aalsmeer 1887-1905; he published (1901) a sermon on Psalm 16:6, commemorating the 25th anniversary of his ministerial service.
