Hans Sikken was a Mennonite preacher of Danzig, Prussia, who came to the Netherlands in 1567 together with Dirk Philips and Geert H. to settle the Flemish-Frisian quarrel (see Flemish Mennonites). While Dirk Philips remained in Emden, Sikken went to meet the representatives of the Frisian group at Appingedam, Dutch province of Groningen. Here he pronounced the ban upon the Frisian group. Of Sikken nothing more is known, but the Hans S. who was present in April 1556 at a discussion at Wüstenfelde between the Dutch-North German and the South German Mennonite leaders on avoidance in marriage was Hans Sikken. On this trip to the Netherlands he wrote a letter to Steven Vaader, the elder of the Danzig Mennonite Church.
