Jacob Daneels (Jacob de Metselaar, i.e., mason), an Anabaptist martyr, who was burned at the stake on the market square at Antwerp, Belgium on 5 February 1558, because he had been rebaptized and even after much suffering refused to recant. He was gagged to prevent his addressing the crowd of bystanders. Jacob was a native of Komen (Commines) in Flanders. His name is found in the song "Aenhoort Godt, hemelsche Vader" (Hear, O God, heavenly Father), found in the Lietboecxken van den Offer des Heeren, No. 16.
