Stadnitski, a former Dutch Mennonite family, found from about 1700 particularly at Amsterdam, where they were members of the Lamist congregation, Jan Stadnitski being a deacon in 1734-40 and 1752-57. In the 18th century members of this family conducted a big business under different names (Handelshuis Stadnitski en Zoon; later, Stadnitski en Cuperus; about 1800, Stadnitski en van Heukelom), trading with Germany, Switzerland, Spain, and the Caribbean islands and equipping ships. They were also bankers.
