Kommerau came under the control of Nazi Germany during World War II until March 1945, when it was occupied by Soviet forces and returned to Poland. In 2013 Kommerau (now Komorowo) was a hamlet in the administrative district of Gmina Stary Targ, Sztum County, Pomeranian Voivodeship.
The 1776 Prussian census lists one Mennonite family in Kommerau named Martens. In 1824 there was one Mennonite, Isaac Loewen, who was a landholder in Kommerau, Adelich Güldenfelde.
Mennonites who were residents of Kommerau were members of the Tragheimerweide Mennonite Church.
