Claes Wever (d. 1535)
Claes (de) Wever, a Dutch Anabaptist martyr, was imprisoned at The Hague but managed to escape from prison. Later on he was active in Bergen op Zoom, Dutch province of North Brabant, and arrested here in November 1535. After being tortured he was executed before 12 December 1535. He belonged to the revolutionary wing of Anabaptism.
