The Iglesia Pentecostés Mexicana in Woodburn, Oregon, began in 1964 as an unaffiliated community outreach under the leadership of Samuel Hernandez and Magdaleno Martinez. Hernandez, originally from Texas, settled in Woodburn in 1964 and noticed the lack of Spanish-speaking churches in the area. He began the Vida y Luz (Life and Light) radio program that summer. Soon, a fellowship began to meet in Magdaleno Martinez's home. In 1965, the growing group rented a veterans' hall. In 1966, the local Christian Church moved to a new facility and sold its building to the Hispanic group for $6,000. In 1972, the Pacific Coast Mennonite Conference offered financial support to the congregation, enabling Hernandez to give full-time to the work.

In January 1980, the group affiliated with the Pacific Coast Conference of the Mennonite Church (MC) as Iglesia Menonita Pentecostés (Pentecostal Mennonite Church).

In 2018, the congregation withdrew from the Pacific Northwest Mennonite Conference of Mennonite Church USA. It joined LMC: a Fellowship of Anabaptist Churches.
