Zomerg(h)em, a hamlet near Ghent, Belgium (coordinates: 51° 7′ 0″ N, 3° 33′ 0″ E), where the Mennonites from near and far used to meet after nearly all the Mennonite congregations in Belgium had died out because of persecution. In 1630 Elder Jacques van Maldeghem was still preaching in the meetinghouse (preeckhuys) at Zomergem, but in that year this last center of Flemish Mennonitism was given up.
