Geeraert Saelen (Sielen, Zeelen, Zielen), an Anabaptist martyr, originally from the vicinity of Maastricht, Dutch province of Limburg, was burned at the stake at Brussels, Belgium, on 2 March 1568. He was about 23 years of age. He refused to betray the names of other Mennonites in the city. During his trial he gave some interesting information about the baptismal practices of the Mennonites.
