Georg Heinrich Götze (Goetze), the superintendent of the Marienkirche in Lübeck, Germany, was author of a polemic against the Mennonites entitled Catechetische Prüfung der Mennonistischen Lehre, welche in Acht Catechismus-Predigten unter Göttlichen Seegen den 12., 13., 15., 16., 19., 20., 22., 23. September An. 1707 in St. Marien Kirche deutlich und erbaulich anzustellen gedenket George Henrich Götze. Following the five main articles of the small Lutheran Catechism in the form of questions and answers, he tries to refute Mennonite doctrine, and gives expression to some very odd ideas. The whole is a remarkable specimen of the type of material used at that time in the struggle against one's theological opponents.
