Johannes Tayus, (d. 1630), a Dutch Reformed pastor, who in 1601, when he was pastor at Brouwershaven in the province of Zeeland, wrote Proeve van de Leere der Wederdooperen . . . in elf poincten. Daerby een corte weerlegghinge . . . (Leiden, 1601). The source of Tayus for his opposition to the Mennonites was the Protocol of the Leeuwarden Disputation of 1596. Tayus referred only to the arguments of the Reformed disputants, neglecting the Mennonite arguments.
