Hendrik Gijsbrechtsz (Gijsbertsz), an elder of the Dutch Mennonite congregation of Gouda who adhered to the strict Mennonite principles; in 1660 he was present at the Flemish conference held at Leiden (see Leidsche Synode), which appointed him and three other ministers to visit Galenus Abrahamsz, preacher at Amsterdam, to ask him to change his opinions or to suspend his ministerial duties. In 1665 we find Gijsbrechtsz with the Zonist wing opposing the Galenists (or Lamists), and traveling to Zeeland with the Zonist leader Samuel Apostool to persuade the congregations in this province to join the Zonists.
