Tres Cruces is located approximately 100 km (60 miles) east of Santa Cruz, close to the railroad. It was established in 1982 mainly by settlers from [[Belize|Belize]], with several families each from [[Riva Palacios Colony (Bolivia)|Riva Palacios]] and [[Swift Current Colony (Bolivia)|Swift Current]] colonies in [[Bolivia|Bolivia]].
