Pieter Beets, b. 1664 at [[Hoorn (Noord-Holland, Netherlands)|Hoorn]], Dutch province of [[North Holland (Netherlands)|North Holland]], preacher of the Mennonite congregation there from 24 October 1690 to 1707 when he retired. He died 1 October 1710. In collaboration with [[Dooregeest, Engel Arendszoon van (1645-1706)|E. A. van Dooregeest]] and [[Schijn, Herman (1662-1727)|Herman Schijn]] he wrote a brief course of instruction for the oncoming youth, <em>Kort Onderwijs des Christelijken Geloofs</em> (first ed. Amsterdam, 1698; it went through eight editions). He wrote also: <em>Het bereidwillig sterven gesien in de zalige verhuisinge van wijlen Michiel Fortgens</em>, a funeral oration (Hoorn, 1695).

In collaboration with E. A. van Dooregeest and Herman Schijn he wrote a brief course of instruction for the oncoming youth, Kort Onderwijs des Christelijken Geloofs (first ed. Amsterdam, 1698; it went through eight editions). He wrote also: Het bereidwillig sterven gesien in de zalige verhuisinge van wijlen Michiel Fortgens, a funeral oration (Hoorn, 1695).
