Mubaybule Ekaka was born at Mikungu in Bandundu, Belgian Congo ([[Congo, Democratic Republic of|Democratic Republic of Congo]]). He was married to Mossese Berenise; they had no children. Mubaybulu was baptized at the Baptist Tshene Mission (1938) and attended the primary school at Tshene (1938-1948). He taught school from 1948 to 1953 and then attended the Mennonite Brethren Bible Institute at Kafumba (1953). From 1961 to 1963 he studied at the Mennonite Brethren Theology School at Kajiji.
