He was born in Gronau, 20 April 1872, and died there 24 January 1950, oldest of eight children of Gerrit and Engelbertha van Delden, and older brother of Mathieu van Delden. For decades he was a member of the Gronau Mennonite church board and a member of the directors of the Vereinigung der Deutschen Mennonitengemeinden and served as treasurer of the Mennonitischer Geschichtsverein, 1933-1947.
