Jan, Joos, Laurens, and Lieven van de Walle were Anabaptist martyrs; Willem van de Walle was banished from Ghent, Belgium, in 1535 because of his Anabaptist views; Geeraerdt van de Walle, of Hansbeke, who lived at Ghent, was baptized by Elder Hans Busschaert at Vlissingen in 1587. Later a van de Walle family is found at Rotterdam, where Jan Jacobs van de Walle was a deacon of the Flemish church 1647-50, later joining the Waterlanders; in this congregation his son Jacob van de Walle, a well-to-do flax merchant, was a preacher 1670-d.78. At Amsterdam Christoffel van de Walle was a preacher of the Lamist congregation 1683-d. 1711. Jacob van de Walle, a Mennonite, probably of Rotterdam, was worshiping with the pietistic adherents of Philipp Jakob Spener at Frankfurt.
