Een Lakenbereider (a cloth manufacturer), an unknown person, was burned at the stake on 18 August 1550 at Antwerp, Belgium. The Antwerpsch Chronykje (quoted by Génard in Antw. Arch.-Blad) relates that when an Anabaptist baker of Ghent was burned at the stake on the market place of Antwerp, this Lakenbereider approached the victim and kissed him, exhorting him to remain steadfast. He was at once arrested and executed a few days later because he was "unwilling to abandon his error."
