Jacob Theunisz (Teunis), born ca. 1569 at Leer, died 1625 at Emden, was a cloth merchant at [[Amsterdam (Noord-Holland, Netherlands)|Amsterdam]] and about 1620 a deacon of the Amsterdam [[Waterlanders|Waterlander]] Mennonite church. He was married to Pietertgen Lubbertsdochter, the daughter of Elder [[Gerritsz, Lubbert (1534-1612)|Lubbert Gerritsz]] and was a loyal and liberal member of the church. All of his children were important leaders: [[Jacobs, Anthoni (ca. 1594-1624)|Anthoni Jacobsz, surnamed Roscius]], a physician and preacher at Hoorn; [[Jacobsz, Lambert (ca. 1598-1636)|Lambert Jacobsz]], a noted painter and preacher at Leeuwarden; Isaak Jacobsz Rooleeuw, a silk merchant at Amsterdam; and Jacob (Jacobus) Rooleeuw, a dyer and preacher at Amsterdam. The noted Dutch painter [[Tempel, Abraham van den (1622-1672)|Abraham van den Tempel]] was his grandson, a son of Lambert Jacobsz.
