The New York Mädchenschule (secondary school for girls) was established in the [[Bachmut (Donetsk Oblast, Ukraine)|Bachmut Mennonite settlement]], [[Ukraine|Ukraine]], in 1907 after the New York Zentralschule had been established. The next year a second class was added. The sponsor of the school was J. J. Thiessen of [[Ekaterinoslav (Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, Ukraine)|Ekaterinoslav]]. The leading teacher was Viktoria Klein. In 1913-14 there were 40 members in the fourth class.
