Peter J. Boehr was born 2 April 1886 to John and Anna Regier Boehr in [[Henderson (Nebraska, USA)|Henderson]], [[Nebraska (USA)|Nebraska]]. He attended public school in Henderson, received his state teacher's certificate from York College in 1908, and attended a Bible training school in [[Fort Wayne (Indiana, USA)|Fort Wayne]], [[Indiana (USA)|Indiana]]. He graduated from Bethel Academy (1910) and [[Bethel College (North Newton, Kansas, USA)|Bethel College]] (AB, 1913), [[Kansas (USA)|Kansas]]. He obtained a graduate certificate from McCormick Theological Seminary in 1925. He married Jennie Gottshall, from [[Bluffton (Ohio, USA)|Bluffton, Ohio]], in 1915. Peter and Jennie went to [[People's Republic of China|China]] as missionaries in 1915. They had six children. Jennie died in 1936. Peter married [[Boehr, Frieda Nettie Sprunger (1890-1982)|Frieda Sprunger]] from [[Berne (Indiana, USA)|Berne, Indiana]] in 1937.
