Mariken (Maeyken) Fransse, in the official records called Mariken Filiers (Filgiers), born at Gorinchem, Dutch province of South Holland, an Anabaptist martyr, drowned at Antwerp, Belgium, on 28 June 1559 because she "obstinately persists in the doctrines of the Anabaptists."
