Janneken Walraven, listed by van Braght as an Anabaptist martyr who was executed in 1557 at Antwerp, Belgium. Van Braght writes: "In the year 1557 on Pentecost eve there was burnt alive at Antwerp . . . Janneken Walraven, the mother of Jacques Walraven, who was a minister of the Word at Amsterdam among the Mennonites." Here van Braght is wrong, confusing two martyrs, Tanneken (Anneken) Walraven, widow of Jan Verschelt, burned at the stake on 22 May (Pentecost) 1557, at Antwerp, who may have been the mother of the afore-mentioned preacher, serving 1588-1617, and Janneken du Boys, wife of Andre Vanneaux, drowned at Antwerp on 22 April 1558. Thus Janneken Walraven did not exist.
