Jacob Lowys, an Anabaptist martyr executed at Ghent, Belgium, on 22 November 1570 (method unknown). The Dutch martyrbook Historie der Warachtige getuygen Jesu Christi . . . (Hoorn, 1617) contains two accounts on this martyr and Joris van Meersch, executed with him. Both accounts are incomplete; the second was used by van Braght in the Martyrs' Mirror.

The exact year and date of execution (not given by van Braght) were found in the records by A. L. E. Verheyden. Jacob and Joris are celebrated in a hymn, "Broeders en susters al ghemeyn, fondeert alleen op Christum den Steijn" (Brethren and sisters altogether, build only on Christ, the stone, as a foundation). The hymn is found in the Tweede Liedenboeck of 1583.
