Burkeland Mennonite Church is located in Waynesboro, Georgia. The church was organized in 1970 as a member of the Virginia Mennonite Conference with the assistance of the Hephzibah Mennonite Church in Hephzibah, Georgia. In 1972 the Burkeland and Hephzibah congregations helped to form the Southeastern Mennonite Conference and eventually constituted the Georgia-Carolina District of the conference along with Barnwell Mennonite Church in South Carolina.
In 1995 the Southeastern Mennonite Conference blessed the Georgia-Carolina District churches in establishing their own denomination, the South Atlantic Mennonite Conference.
In 2014 the church had 75 members. The ministerial team included Ministers Austin H. Hege and Tim Groff and Deacons Byard W. Heatwole and Jared Hege.
