The Wayside Mennonite Church near Brimley, Michigan, began with the Lester Gage family moved to Brimley in 1947. This led Clarence Troyer, the pastor at Wildwood Mennonite Church, to launch a mission outpost at Brimley, located 15 miles west of Sault Sainte Marie. This began with a Summer Bible School in 1947.
