Oude Maeyken, 't (Maeyken Sprincen), an Anabaptist martyr, drowned on 11 October 1559 at the Steen castle at Antwerp, Belgium. She was an aged widow, a native of Maastricht in the Dutch province of Limburg. Her clothing and furniture were confiscated and publicly sold. She was a simple, pious woman, remaining loyal even in temptation and trial, and died steadfast. Maeyken is commemorated in two hymns, (a) "Aenhoort Godt, hemelsche Vader" and (b) "Babels Raets Mandamenten," both found in the Lietboecxken (Nos. 16 and 19).
