Mariken (Maeyken) Fransse, in the official records called Mariken Filiers (Filgiers), born at Gorinchem, Dutch province of South Holland, an Anabaptist martyr, burned at the stake at Antwerp, Belgium, on 28 June 1559 because she "obstinately persists in the doctrines of the Anabaptists." The accounts of Offer des Heeren and van Braght's Martyrs' Mirror are incomplete. Mariken Fransse is commemorated in the hymn "Aenhoort Godt, hemelsche Vader" (Hear, O God, heavenly Father), No. 16 of the Lietboecxken van den Offer des Heeren, which was also inserted in the Nieu Liedenboeckof 1562.
