Maeyken (Mayken) Cadts (Kats, de Catte), a daughter of Joos de Catte, an Anabaptist martyr of Wervik, Belgium, was seized on 20 May 1559 by the margrave of Antwerp with five other Anabaptist women and was drowned in the Steen castle after a courageous confession of faith on 19 or 29 July 1559 (not during the night of 18 June as related by van Braght). Maeyken and the five other women who were to die with her are celebrated in a hymn "Babels Raets Mandamenten worden aldus volbracht," found in the Lietboecxken van den Offer des Heeren (No. 19); her name is also found in hymn No. 16, "Aenhoort, Godt, hemelsche Vader."
