Hendrik Aerts, an Anabaptist martyr, a hatter of Halewijn (Halluin), Belgium, was taken prisoner at that place together with his wife Janneken Cabeljaus and eleven others by the notorious inquisitor Titelman, and was brought to Rijssel. Among the group was the preacher Jan de Swarte. Hendrik was burned at the stake on 17 March 1563 at Rijssel with five others of this group; the others were executed later. Hendrik was a native of Driel, Dutch province of Gelderland.
