Stony Brook Fellowship, a member of the [[Evangelical Mennonite Conference (Kleine Gemeinde)|Evangelical Mennonite Conference]] (EMC), began its services in 1996 with a desire to reach out to people who were under-churched and over-churched. Thoughts about forming a congregation started in October or November 1995. The first service was held on 4 February 1996.
