Jan de Vlascoper, an [[Anabaptism|Anabaptist]] martyr, named in H. Alenson's <em>Tegenbericht op de Voorreden van 't groote Martelaer Boek</em> (Haarlem, 1630, reprint <em>BRN</em> VII, 248), who was in 1576 in prison with Hans Bret at [[Antwerp (Belgium)|Antwerp]], [[Belgium|Belgium]]. From the records studied by [[Génard, Petrus (1830-1899)|P. Génard]] and published in <em>Antwerpsch Archieven-Blad</em> it appears that this Jan de Vlascoper is identical with Hans (Jan) Corneliszoon de Ruytere, a preacher of the Antwerp congregation.

Jan de Vlascoper, an Anabaptist martyr, named in H.
