In 1958 at the 350th anniversary of the Singelkerk, his younger colleague, [[Kuiper, Frits (1898-1974)|Frits Kuiper]], recalled, "Fokke Dijkema in 1930 commemorated here four centuries of Mennonite life in Amsterdam (in 1530 there had been Mennonites in Amsterdam for nearly 80 years before this church was built).
