Claes Dircxzn Mug, a revolutionary Anabaptist of Benschop, Dutch province of Utrecht, who together with some others came by ship from Antwerp, Belgium, to Amsterdam, where they were all arrested, was executed by hanging at Amsterdam on 9 August 1540.
