In 1924 Abraham married Alvine Schulz (1 October 1901 - 9 June 1939). They had a family of three sons and three daughters. Abraham died on 29 August 1972 as a result of injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident.
Abraham attended elementary school in Prangenau and high school in nearby Alexanderkrone, where he was baptized on 8 June 1921. He migrated to Canada with his wife Alvine and two children in 1926, settling in the Peace River area near Wembley, Alberta. Here he operated a mixed farm. In 1946 the family moved to British Columbia to a dairy farm. He was ordained as a minister in the East Chilliwack (now Eden) Mennonite Church in 1948, where he preached and carried out visitation. He was the leading minister from January 1953 until December 1955. Under his leadership the congregation left the Conference of United Mennonite Churches in BC in May 1954. The congregation returned to the conference in May 1956.
