Peter G. Epp, author and teacher: b. 13 August 1888 in Petershagen, Molotschna Colony, South Russia, the fifth of seven children of Gerhard Epp (1848-1916) and Elisabeth (Fast) Epp. He was married twice. His first wife was Helene Matthies (d. 1924), whom he married in 1912 in Altonau, Molotschna Colony, South Russia; they had two sons, Arnold and Constantine. In 1924 Peter immigrated to the United States; he lived at Bluffton, Ohio, serving on the faculty of Bluffton College until 1934. In that year he joined the faculty of the Ohio State University at Columbus, Ohio, teaching German and Russian. In 1946 he became ill with tuberculosis, after which he never completely regained his health, though he taught some courses.
