Kilabi Bululu was born in the village of Kilembe, Kwenge, and became one of the most prominent leaders and ministers of the Communauté des Églises de Frères Mennonites au Congo, (Mennonite Brethren Church of Congo (formerly Zaire)) in Africa. He heard the Christian message first in 1948 and accepted Christ. He graduated from Bible institute in Kafumba. From 1967 to 1971 he studied at the Faculté de Théologie, Vaux-surSeine, France, receiving both BA and MA degrees (the first Congolese Mennonite Brethren to receive an MA degree in theology).
